MOVING WALL UPDATE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!.............evenin' Flight....is all my pleasure to be among you tonight....... T Minus 18 days and counting until the Moving WALL comes to Coldwater. Last Thursday I had to go to the Mayors Chambers and be present when he signed a Proclamation proclaiming the week of September 16 the through the 22nd of 2000 a period of rememberance of the Vietnam Veterans in our town..............tell ya what flight......... ... to be there and to see the see the sod being cut for the side walk and the forms being set too, and talking to the man that will build the foundation for the WALL .......all that has been going on has brought a tingle to my stomach and a tear to my eye............................I want to take the time now to thank all that so far have sent donations to me for the WALL to be here in Coldwater............I hated to even bring up the idea in here that you could donate money if you wanted to. My intentions actually were to give you, if you can, the oppertunity to not only help defray our cost of the WALL to come here, but to also help it to continue to travel the country.....and please...PLEASE......if there is nothing in your pocket to give, PLEASE do not feel oblagated. I do understand fixed incomes. I just wanted to offer the GREATEST unit in Nam to be a part of it all....I will hold all donations from you men and give it to the comittee as a whole donation from the 129th......even if and I know you will be, Here in spirit....and brothers....you damn well know .......better then me....that is priceless......welp...just wanted to update you all a lil' about the WALL and will conintue to do so until the end....and even after that.....will post some pix on the 129th WEB Page to let you see the goins on..........you guys all take care out there...........you have become my family and the voice of my brother to me........God Bless you for that, and Thanks................ALWAYS, A BROTHER OF A BROTHER...RELATED TO THE COST OF FREEDOM,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,MARK......POP-A-TOPII

Hello flight, I am in the process of building a V W Trike so I can make the RUN FOR THE WALL next year. can anyone tell me where I can find a fairly large clear pic of the nose art we had on our birds? I found a cobra and a bulldog in the gallery and they aren't bad (I think I can use them) but if anyone has a straight on, clear, pic of them I sure would like to have a copy. you can send it to me as an attachment to an E-mail (JPEG prefered) THANKS in advance. be safe brothers

Good Morning Flight: It's been a well. Work is starting to slow down for a while. So that will give a little more computer time. Mark: check will be in the mail. Still trying to get time off to where I can make it up for a couple of days. Charlie Rains is still working on a download to find our guy's by using social #. Of coarse he is gone 3 out 4 weeks with military duty. But I get move info I will pass it on. I am still using the idea that most guys will be with 300 miles of home. But, usually there will be family living in their hometowns. I encourage everyone to make a donation to the moving walling coming to Mark's home town of Coldwater,Ohio. Well Bro's take care. What chatlines are so of you all using? ALEX

Evenin' Flight,.....been a real long time since I have checked in. Glad to be here though, and glad to know that one of the greatest units to be there is part of my family. I have come to you tonight for a request if it is all possible for any of you. .............you see, the traveling WALL will be in our home town of Coldwater Ohio in less then a month. It was a dream of mine 2 years ago to bring the WALL to Coldwater and now after all the committees have talked our talk, it is time to walk the walk. I have been a part of serveral of the committees to make this dream come true and the area has responded generously with support and help to make it all happen. We set a buget of around $12,000 dollars to make it happen. We set that figure high as not to underestimate ourselves. As a committee group we feel we will make our goal. I have been thinking about writing to you all here for a long time, but did not want to come on here and ask for money from you all., But......it has accured to me because of the amount of CONTACTS that we have on the 129th site, it would be nice to go to a meeting and present the group with a check from the 129th AHC...........you know....with over 150 CONTACTS on here......at $10.00 each...that would be $1500. Or even any small donation from any would be appreciated.........I dont want any one of you to think and any of you have to give to this endeaver. I was just thinking how nice it would be to have the 129th represented there as a donator. I can garantee that all monies would go to the payment of the set up fee for the WALL site and then anything left over goes to the upkeep of the traveling WALL..........if you wish to make a contribition it could be sent to The WALL P.O BOX 5 Coldwater Ohio, 45828 That is our American Legion here in town..............but to make it as if the 129th gave a total donation...you can send it to me at 816 East Vine Street, Ohio 45828.....you can be sure that the money will go to the WALL....................what ever turns out of this post..rest assured....even if I dont collect a dime form you all...that the 129th will be well represented there.....I will have Larry's pictures and artifacts on display there...........and after it is all over with, I will post some pictures of the WALL on the 129th Home Page.......thank you for you time in reading this...and PLEASE, PLEASE. do not feel obligated in any way to give.....it is a pleasure just to be a small part of your lives.......THANK YOU ALL FOR YOUR TIME, AND FOR THE JOB YOU DID 30YEARS AGO, SO I COULD WALK FREELY....... GOD BLESS, AND TAKE CARE.ALWAYS A BROTHER, OF A BROTHER, RELATED TO THE COST OF FREEDOM,..........................MARK

Thanks for the emails for Jim. Keep the encouragement coming because boredom is already setting in!! He's doing well. Would be interested in getting email for low fat, low sodium tasty recipes. We've always done pretty well with the low fat thing since heart disease runs in his family, but the best recipes are the tried and true. Would save me hours of looking thru cookbooks! Bless you all!

Anyone remember Dough Barry? He was a armor and flew with me as a gunner later in 69. He would have DEROSed not too long after I did. (March 69) He was from out east. Had a scar on his face from the door on a M-37. They where out around the maintenance area and the guy driveing dropped the front end into a trench and he had his head out the window and spacked it on the front of the window opening. I remember the runaway rocket. I can still remember thinking " Oh ---- where is that going to land." and the sick feeling after it was out of site hoping it had not hit anyone. I also remember the when I first got the miniguns on 949. At that time there was no attempt to disarm them as they where parked in a safe position. RIGHT I think it was the XO came down to the revetment to check out the new toy, gave the barrels a twist and BANG just about shot him self in the foot. That is how we got the safty lock pins to drop in through the barrels to keep the O's from shooting themselves in the foot.

Yo Flight: I chumed around with John Hartwig in LosAngeles,CA untill we had a disagreement in 1974. He and his wife Pam got divorsed at about that time. After that he went off the deep end and I havent seen him since then. Now that we are talking about these guys, the names are comming back. In the vidios that Rick England has most of these names have faces. In one clip near the end there is a shot of Porky flipin the bird at the camera. I'm clear left for now.

Bill Roddis...several have checked in here from the class of 68-69. I gunned on cobra010 from around March 68 until March 69, when I went to Flight Operations until early out in June of 69. I went to high school with Larry Platt, he was with us during the same period...he has worked at Tinker Air Force Base since coming home... Paul "Chip" McGregor, Joe Johnson, Ted "Gus" Gustavson(sp), and many others were there at the same time..most extended tours. So many years have passed and "crs" has definitely set in. One way you may remember me was when I was gunning on "010" had a rocket ignite while I was loading in revetment and damn near took out a Korean outpost. Seems like I remember the armors name was Allen Broadwater. I did a years contract with Lockheed after my early out and then another 2 1/2 years with RMK-BRJ in Dalat, Don Duong, Pleiku and back to Long My and Qui Nhon....Lotsa memories...little memory.

Rick, I went to Basic training with John .. then didn't see him again till I got to the 129th. in March 69. he didn't talk to me much at all because we went before the E-5 board at the same time and I made it and he didn't so I think he was a little upset about that ( I had only been in-country 2 months at that time ( May 69)) I don't know when he got there but I am sure it was early 68 ...... any way .. he did extend and went home on his 30 day leave but I have no idea when that was it could have been around mid to late 69 when he extended. sorry memory isn't better....... I know where John Chaucey is and called him left a message on his machine with home # and got no response. I knew him in school at eustis we went to rvn together, he would have called if he wanted. He had a case of coors sent to rvn in the 7 oz ers that was my first taste of coors. I decided not to persue it. Because of no response. Thanks for telling the truth about this situation. I only heard the rumors. After that John did not talk to me much after that. Last I heard he extended back to maint and then he went to guns. Is that true? I seen Gould in Jersey and had a party this was in 69 after we got back gave him my home # and that was the last I heard from him. I seen mugsy, Bill, Whelan, and a 2 nd plt guy named John Zelawiez or something like that him I flew up from Harrisburg PA for Whelan's wedding. Anybody remember Vernon Clark from the 394th team leader that was with the 66 67 group? He was my team leaderwith Gus and Oh shit I lost those names for a minute will get back to you on those. Run out of memory that is worth anything. Please be careful out there for we have only us to remember this past to tell and to carry on. Rick English, Bill Roddis, Bill Wealan... My Old buddies, who would have thought that we would all be yaking on the 129th AHC web page.... Way Cool.... Thanks Mark.... Rick on the 1 1/4 truck deal, They decided to go to Phu Cat AFB to steel a tire for the fork lift that we had. It was more or less sanctioned by Porkie. They found a fork lift then boosted the hole thing off and than jacked it up and put the tire in the truck. By the time they did that it was getting late. They were on the road at dusk when they decided to run the Korean rood blocks, the third one opened on them, killing Thorp, 128 bullet holes in the truck. Not one hit Chauncey. Mathison was a tall 18 years old. Not much sense I remember talking to the guys that I thought it was a big mistake for him to start to crew. Hell I don't know everyone probley said that about me also. As I was told he through the WP out 100 yards from the LZ. Well it didn't go off , so after they landed an there was that long delay in-between landing and taking off . He and a Korean wen over and found the dam thing. Then he got stupid and hit it on a rock.... It was very amazing that he lived. His flack jacket had done it's job. I remember going to Que Non Hospital to see him, I was sorry that I did. It was like they had stuck straws into 80 lbs. of hamburger. They had to amputate a arm and a leg wait for him to stabilize enough to fly him to Japan . I heard that he died in route. Well that's the story as I remember it. Will try to be more cheery next time. Frenchie
