Kim, thanks for the info. I did locate the CBI site yesterday, and i didn't find anything on the 3848th either. The guy i'm trying to help, it was his father that was there. He had a map that his father used to have taped to his truck somewhere and it shows all of the places he had to drive along the Burma Road. The map is falling apart, so i scanned it on one of our scanners here at work and am in the process of cleaning it all up with Photo Suite. RICK ENGLAND, I think i will wear a chicken plate to Atlanta myself. RAY GAGNER, remember the day the AC let us fly THE JUDGE? Couldn't get the damn thing to hover. Robbie

see if you can find the image. It's pretty neat. Subject: For Ash & Tay. Do You Beleive The Sound is hard to hear on this, you may want to turn up the volume a little. This sent shivers down my spine! Let me know if you can see it, too. This is pretty neat. Apparently the owners of this house had been seeing images and hearing voices for quite a while. They did some research and found that a lady once lived in the house who lost her husband during the civil war. Legend says that she used to sit at the table and look across the fields in anticipation of her loved one returning home. He never came. So, they say she still waits. They caught this photo of what they claim to be her. This one was wild and a little spooky once you find the ghost in the picture. It took me a minute or two to find it, but when you do it just stands out. Like one of those optical illusions. To save you some time, concentrate around the table. Best not to focus too much on one spot. Look around the table and toward the window. If you have your face closer to the screen it can be seen a lot better. Click on the link below for the picture. Best to enlarge. For an added touch, turn on your speakers . . . the website added an audio tape . it's faint but you can hear the ghost making a low murmur. Remember that you have to wait a few moments for it to appear. http://home.attbi.com/~n9ivo/whatswrong.swf <==== CLick her

Hey flight, anyone out there? the last msg has been there since yesterday morning. I'm looking for some help finding some World War 2 web sites. In particular, I am looking for the 3848th Quartermaster Trucking Company. A friend of mine is trying to find some guys that were in the China/Asia theatre in 1944 through 1946. He drove a truck on the Burma Road while there. He has pictures of himself and someone named Sal and Joe, but no last names. If someone knows Where i could find some WWII webs I would appreciate a shout. Just put something in the log and i will see it. Thanks Rob. (Kris, how did Ray's surgery go?)

Ron...they got ROADS in Mississippi??????? the Navy has a SAR site up in yankee 1 M.O.A. So I got to see all kinds of Huey flights over the year's. I used to run outside as soon as I heard that sound, heart pounding, just staring at the sky, till I either saw it, or heard the whining as it passed by. It took getting into the sky in my own right to get past it! Nowadays I just smile when one passes over.... Kim. 71 Old Cobra's never die, they just go to hell and regroup!

Dear,Dear 129th family...................WOW.......so many great and nice and neat things happening in my life at this time.............1st.....is a real strange thing........my father and I............he is a hard nose WWII Marine combat vet.........I worked for him for 40 years.....hated him and every minute of it all.......now that we no longer work with each other..........we LOVE each other.......somethinbg that I wanted to feel for years..............I make a visit to see him each week.......and drive away with a warm feeling in my heart that I finally can say to him that I love him and give him a hug.Long story, but, am going through a good ending to it!!!!!!!...........have had the pleasure of having some very interesting Vets stop in the Pop-A-Top the last few weeks......last night had a WWII navy crewmen of the USS ARKANSAS stop in and tell me stories of his tour....very interesting!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!....he recalls the attack on Okinanwa. and stated how his ship bombed the crap out of the island for 2 weeks befor the Marines went in. The jar heads still met resistance........my father was one of those Marines..........................the Pop-A-Top was "SPOT LIGHTED" in the Ohio Tavern News Mag last week.........we made the front page. Colored pix and all.......the theme of being all about the Vets has really been spread around.......we are getting Vets from all over making a trip here............last week had a school teacher friend of mine bring two Viet Vets in.....the one left with goose bumps on him........stopped back later and left my some artifacts.........gettinf new stuff all the time now.........need a ware house almost.........today............a Viet Vet and his wife stopped in........he is from Antwarp Ohio. North of here about 60 miles. They were in Columbus Ohio at a Stand Down Rally that they attend.......there they met a Vet from Cleveland that I know that has been here and he gave them a Pop-A-Top Drink chip. Told then, if they were ever near Coldwater, stop in and see the place......from Antwarp, to Columbus, to Cleveland to Coldwater.....we are known a a safe haeven for the Vets..........as this one told me today, He has never felt more comfortable and welcomed in a bar before. Even more so then hid VFW at home.....also have word that a bar owner in Lime saw the article in the tavern News and has sent a message to me that he was there the night Larry went down.........small world, I tell you all.................I know I have said it before in here, and will until the day that I die...................you all really , really have know clue what you have done for me............by just being here.........and out there.......and posting in here.......and telling your stories and lives in here.........200+ strong and still growing........Larry's, and all the missing 129th spirit's are so much alive here......you all can take the cridit for that!!!!!!!!!!!!!......for with out you........this page would not exsist............I am a sap for love my friends...............and have more then I can handle from all of this..............but will continue to try and absorb it all......I thank each and every one of you for all that you have done.............stay active in here...............as I have noticed in the recent.........some who dont always talk in here, have made some post to some of the subjects brought up, Such as the Nam songs como we had over the last week or so..........good to see, and know that you are out there.....I am here to tell you , my family, that Larry has not been this colse to me in years.........I mean.....he is standing right next to me as I type this telling me what to say......strange sounding??????????????......is strange to me also gang.......but is true........am I nuts , or have I gone off the deep end??????????????........./NOPE...............just relaying the message in my heart............God Bless you all.........Dee and I wish the best for all of you and your loved ones...................our relationship in here is "PRICELESS"......Cost nothing, is free, and something that I will take to my grave with me..........I'm sorry, that I get so sappy in here.......I always want to come in here and join with the natual como.......but get to over whelmed with just the feeling of being here and being with you all that I just have to tell you that!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!............remember.......129th, 173rd xmas party at the Pop-A-Top Dec 14......come and make it if you can.........there have been some post in the past of local hotel info for the stay over.........the Herd has 30 coming so far......have heard of some of the 129th may show up also..........the herd has invited all of you to come and join in......they are as great of bunch of a crew and love Dee and I, and the Pop-A-Top, as much as you all do!!!!!!!!!!!! .........I best be going.....had the night off tonight............so what am I still doing up............feel like I am just settin' round the kitchen table talkin' to my family.............I love you all................always, always a brother...........Thanks..............Mark

Kim, the closest I came to taking a ride like that was when I saw an old H-model at the Olathe, Colorado Corn Festival in July. A veterans group from Grand Junction had it on a flatbed trying to raise money for a Vietnam Veterans Memorial in Fruita. Similar experience, though... I crawled all around it and pointed out several features to the guys there who, while in Vietnam did little more than ride in them. It was a real walk down memory lane, though I didn't actually take a "ride". They said that the military is practically giving those old Hueys away.

I got to crawl all over a 77 H model, a few years ago, at the Owls Head Transportation Museum. The guy doing the talking about it, described it as a Vietnam Veteran, so , when I looked at the SN, I questioned the pilot about it. We got talking, and I told him of my experiences with them. Got treated like a KING!!!!! the first thing I noticed about them now, is the new rotor blades, with the taper at the tips, to quiet them down. It may be a quieter ride than years ago, but, it still has that wop wop sound pulling pitch! Had a fun day, for sure! got to play crewchief for a day, helped preflight it, rode left seat...Cry, you BAS--RD'S!!!!!!!!! Kim

The huey was in Hardin Co today. I got to see it but no ride. It was pretty awesome. I am sure it brings back lots of memories for some. I am truly glad everything is back to normal on the site. I was concerned last week. Every needs to take care of each other. We are all brothers and sisters. Even tho I wasn't in Vietnam I still feel like I am part of the 129 because of Michael Shanley. I am truly grateful for the support and love I have received from everyone. I feel closer to Michael because you all care so much for each other. As always WELCOME HOME and THANK YOU. Always a sister, Katharine

Caught it myself Tom. Gen. Moore seems to still be the "whipper snapper" he was in '65. Note that on Nov. 4th at 9pm(ET/PT) the Travel Channel will present "The Vietnam Veterans Memorial: Wall of Courage." Mark it down. And if you don't have cable, visit a friend who does....promise to bring the beer. Additionally, I need some help: whenever our VVA Chapter presents the Missing Man Table I have to borrow dress hats from our local army surplus store. Now, they are happy to do it, but it causes alot of running around and stress for me because I want to return them promptly and in perfect condition. What I need is a dress hat from each of the five branches of service, to keep. Please consider helping me out, knowing your hat will be used in a place of honor, representing our POW/MIA's from Viet Nam for years to come. Get it out of the attic....and let it be part of our very beautiful and moving ceremony. Email me off the web if you can help me out. There are other outlets for me, but I'm starting with you guys, because it would be an honor for me to use your hats and connections at our ceremnony. Always there-Gently

Watched ‘War Stories With Oliver North’ on the Fox News Channel tonight. A very rapid but good history of helicopter warfare. Had Hal Moore and some Nam era pilots and showed the battle of the Ia Drang Valley and a lot of good combat footage from the beginning to the end of the war, some Panama, Gulf War and a bit from Afghanistan. If you can get that channel, future showings are listed for Oct 20th and Oct 27th. Cobra Soothsayer, 67-68

Robbie, Go to www.cduniverse.com, I just checked it, USA Union, is $9.79 with shipping, it`s cd form remastered. Cheapest place to by CD`s. If it`s something "out of print" go to www.gemm.com ,they can get anything out of print, but you might pay "import" prices. Gemm is a little more expensive because of that. Also Gemm sells "used" cd`s dirt cheap, 6 or 7 bucks. USA UNION is a masterpiece, it and " THE TURNING POINT" the one before "USA UNION" were both done "live" without a drummer. TURNING POINT was done at the Fillmore East 12th July 1969, USA UNION was done live in the studio 1970. Both are spontaneous and tight. Rick England, you remember we were talking about J.B.Lenoir, well John Mayall`s "TURNING POINT" has a song he wrote in honor of J.B. It`s called " I`m Gonna Fight For You J.B."

Ron & Jamie, got the shirts yesterday. Many thanks and they look great. Fred Skaggs, when I was at Ft. Hood 1970-71, I had an 8 track of John Mayall that i cannot find anywhere. I believe it was USA Union. You have any idea where i can get a copy of this? It sure would bring back some memories. 8 tracks...... What a concept.

Sent you the Addy alex, glad things are doing better. Remember we all have PTSD... I went to a Seminar once by Tom Williams Psy. ED who is the foremost authority on PTSD in the Northwest ( I have a hand signed copy of the clinicians handbook for PTSD) written by him. Anyway, I asked him if I had Ptsd, He asked what I did & I told him & he said that" he never knew a helicopter Crew person who did not have PTSD in some form. We all know the ghosts in our closets all too well. It's how well we function that counts. (quote) End quote". By the way Fred Alvis, did you just get disturbed because it seems like I remember you being fairly disturbed at a place called Lane AHP or maybe its just a dream. Yours as always, Jim

Brothers and Sisters, police just departed the house. No need to dust or anything like that, pretty cut and dry. I had a "old water cooler glass jug" that I put quarters in, and he broke it open and took all the quarters. Police checked out things and ask alot of questions. Making sure it`s not a "inside job" for insurance fraud. Wondered why my truck is still had Ohio plates. Guess I`ll have to change that over. For now on I`m talking about Sports and Music, that`s all. God`s payin me back for something I`ve done wrong. Maybe Larry Jackson just sent me a message from above. This is what can happen when you mess with the Brothers from the 129th. You`all sure crushed my butt. I`m tryin not to take it personal. Mark told me not to....I just feel like I could sit down cry I`m so upset. I`m not asking for sympathy, I`m just wore out.

Some of her family had come in from Campbell, California to celebrate also. Here is what has happen, Wednsday evening my 23 year old nephew pulled into the driveway. He said he was on his way to Florida and wanted to see me, because he hadn`t seen me since we returned from europe. He was in Jail, that`s why. He`s been in the system since he was 12 years old. He was released last year on "shock probation". His offenses were sexual assault on a minor, Showing porno to minors, "cloning" cell phone numbers and pagers, and sending threatening e-mails to his school teachers. But being me, I thought jail had changed him. He had gotten a good job at UPS, with the help of his mom and my brother. Had bought a nice car, he had his own apartment. They were drug testing him at the job and probation officer was also making him test. I thought he had turn the corner!!!! Now, Kim and I were going home this week-end and they had be having "break ins" in the neighborhood. We don`t have a security system in our house, because it`s a rental property. So Kim and I thought, he`s changed so we can maybe trust him to "hang around the house" and watch the place. Now my browser is set on the 129th web-site. When Jake ask to get on my computer to send e-mails to friends, I said no problem. He did question me about the web-site, NOT TO OFFEND anyone, but I just wasn`t paying attention to what he was asking me. I said" It`s just a bunch of guys telling war stories and a bullshiting. Now Kim told him, Don`t get on the web-site because your Uncle Fred raises hell with those guys and they get mad at him. Fred still thinks he`s in the 60`s and 70`s and still being a peace freak!!!!! Now I did make reference to Mark`s a Mariine and I`m Army so I don`t always agree with him. I just didn`t give what said much thought. I was to busy watching baseball on TV. Well I dropped Kim off at Columbus Airport Sunday morning, because she has business in Denver, Colorado this week. Went by to see my mother, I didn`t tell her about Jake being at my house, because she has enough problems with my step-father dying. Hospice has been coming around for about two months now. But I stayed at Country Inn at State Route 256 and Interstate 70, last night so I could get a early start on coming home this morning. Well I got home at 1:15PM today and to my surprize I have phone calls and e-mail asking me if I needed help!!!!!! First of all that`s not my style of writing, I rarely use a cuss word or I try to articulate things well enough without doing that. And I never refer to Kim as just "my wife" she don`t have a clue about this. She will when I call her tonight. Jake stole my Bose sound system and just threw beer cans and a wine bottle all over the kitchen. I got to call the Raleigh police for a report for insurance purposes. Change all the lockes in the house, because Jake has a key. BROTHERS, If I could invent a story like this, I`d be writing scripts in Hollywood. And I say that without one bit of a sense of humor. This starting to be a nightmare for me. I `m hoping the he hasn`t got any "credit card" numbers or my PIN numbers of Kim and I. I still haven`t read everything he said, In his log, But anyone that has talk to me personal, knows that I have my issues but nothing like that..... I`M SO SORRY HE HURT EVERYONE LIKE THAT..... I DON`T HAVE A DUAL PERSONALITY OR A ALTER EGO EITHER!!!!!! I DO BELEIVE IN GOD AND HE KNOWS I DIDN`T DO THIS. I`M NOT THAT MEAN.... I`m not going to make any public statement about Jake Porath(my nephew) because if something happen`s to him, they will blame me. Not that is not in my heart. I`m going let "legal channel`s" take care of this. If anyone here wants my in-laws or Kim or anyone to confirm the truth, I have them call you or e-mail you. I`M BEING TOTALLY HONEST WITH YOU. NOW JACOB PORATH KNOWS NOTHING ABOUT ANY OF YOU BROTHERS..... I DON`T KNOW IF HE WAS SMOKING CRACK OR HEROINE, I`VE LOOKED AROUND THE HOUSE FOR SOMETHING TO INDICATE WHAT HE WAS DOING OTHER DRINKING BEER AND WINE. This kid`s got a criminal mind and I don`t why he would do this and why steal from me. I`ve always been good to him. But I "set myself up" for this by being a adversary on the web-site. I APLOGIZE PROFUSLY TO EVERYONE ABOUT THIS INCCIDENT. I can`t hardly type I`m so upset, my stomach is just in knots. GOD KNOWS I`M SORRY

MY little bit says, I had a few problems in the service as well but nothing I can't live with. I am sorry to hear this type of attack & it seems unwarranted. I have been serving vets with all kinds of problems for 20 years. This sounds like PTSD symptoms to me. There is help to be had at the VA. Unfortunately a lot of vets give or have given the VA a Bad Rap but you have to find the right people within. I Know that Jeff Sauers has been doing the same thing at Salisbury. This is the kind of anger that requires professional help. AS far as the website goes, I agree with others that this is not the forum for that but rather a place of healing. Alex, i want to join the vhfcn, can you send me some sort of application or what do i need to do? Everyone be good to yourselves & for God Sake lets be kind to each other. Mark, Thanks for what you give to us all!!!! Jim

Flight: Want to appoligze to all of you. Also to FRED SKAGGS. I reread my last post. Fred you put me in the same frame of mind as you. And I also was playing with the same ground rules. Fred I want you to know that everyone on this site is a Brother and Sister to me. No exceptions. Were all family. I have had the pleasure of meeting a large number of our Brothers and Sisters over the last few years. We have always been here to help each other when needed. To RESPECT each other. I don't Know what effects Vietnam has left in our minds. I don't think you know the same Mark Jackson we know. He has been here for us!! Why? Larry Jackson. I have the greatest respect for Mark. Where would we be today with out this web site. Yes! I probably wouldn't be writing this now. Fred I don't know what set you off. But,I am willing to it behind us. But, you have to take the first step. Because the Brothers of the 129th always have thier arms open to a Brother. Fred I don't where you had gotten you info about Mark. But, believe me Mark Jackson has been here for us!!! Him and Dee will always be part of the 129th.Their FAMILY!! Mark hasn't presented him self for anything but being a Marine and the Brother of one of our KIA'S. Take Care Fred Skaggs and I hope together we can over come any problem you may have. FRED SKAGGS; YOU GOT MY ATTENTION!!!! But, in the wrong way! I don't what your problem is or whom whooped your funky little ass!! But, If your looking for a good fight, then Man you found ME!!! What's the problem? And, before you start bad mouthing Mark!! Well Bro!! You better get your facts straight. Mark started this web site in honor of his brother Larry!! A 129th Brother to all of us that served with the 129th. Mark wanted away to bring the vision he had from Larry to reality. Mark never told me he was a nam vet. Or was with the 129th. But, Mark and Dee are Family!!!! Fred I always try to think positive. I try along with Mark to find our Brothers of the 129th and to bring them together at the reunions. We together helping each other have had good turn outs. Yes! I consider Mark Jackson part of the 129th Family and Always WILL!! Fred, your a disgrace to the 129th and our kia/mia's. And, your a disgrace to the state of ohio. Or do you have sneak back in. Fred in simple talk that you might understand. If you don't like it here. Then, keep your miserable ass!! OUT OF HERE!!! If you what to play WHOOP ASS!!! Then come play with me!!! Bring the Marines!! I have plenty Marine Bro! here with me. But, only because they need something to watch and get a good laugh at!! Fred as you can see. You can piss some people off. And after seeing you trashing Mark and my 129th Brothers. I tell you to come to Memphis,TN. And I show you how I jerk out the eye balls and piss on your childish 1/4 of a brain. Flight excuse me, I normally don't get like this. But, if Fred Skaggs has our records. Then when,he reads mine. Lord will his eyes open wide. He'll see when I talk the talk and walk the walk I back it up. Alex

Fred...I know you don't drink, so I don't know what allowed you to become so angry. It breaks my heart to hear that you beat up a Marine(isn't that like Viet Nam Vets getting spit on?), who was maybe on his way to war, or perhaps just getting home. And I know you have feelings about Mark, but this healing site was not the place to air them. A lot of people have become upset and angry by your words and anger....both which could be steps backwards in the healing process so many are still going through from Nam. I don't know anything about Mark's military background or the military backgrounds of most on this site, it isn't my intent to delve where so much pain lies. It is my intent to be part of the healing process for anyone who calls on me, this includes you. I'm sure everyone on this site understands your anger because many still carry it from Nam themselves....what I don't understand is what triggered it. Do you? Please email me so we can discuss this, please. Mark, no one goes through this world accepted by everyone they meet, so please tread lightly with this recent tirad from Fred. You, of all people, may be the most understanding and forgiving of Fred's outburst....you have the pain and anger also, as a result of loosing Larry. Let's not turn our backs on Fred, "never again will one Vet not be there to help another Vet(to plagiarize Viet Nam Veterans of America and Mr. Paye)....especially when they hurt you(us) by lashing out in pain and anger. I believe that is the true basis to the brotherhood of Viet Nam Veterans. Always there, always, Gently

Hey Flight, I need to change the pace a little bit. Is there any brothers out there that are carpenters. I'm in the process of building a 12'x 16' storage shed in my back yard that resembles an old general store with the high (12') store front. I have it framed with the rafters on 24" OC & I plan on using 12' v-crimped metal sheets for the roof screwed to 3" perlins every 2'. I read on the net that the metal sheets will draw condensation underneath & drip water all over the inside. The shed will be un-insulated with an open attic. Is there some type of vapor barrier or insulation that I can use before I install the sheets? Any advice will be appreciated by this "shade tree carpenter". Thanks, Gale

Ok Flight, here it goes. Fred, I've talked to you on the phone before & you seem like an intelligent man, but, you do like to stir things up. If you & your wife have problems with Mark & Dee you should contact them directly & not on this site for everyone to read. This place is here for healing, respect & brotherhood...not for personal bickering. I think that you have crossed the line and you need to respond to all of us. If not for Mark, I may not have met some of the finest brothers & sisters of the 129th and there are more to be found. Mark & Dee are sincere, loving people & good friends and they don't deserve crap like this. If you need any help, let someone know...otherwise keep it to yourself or if you get boozed up on Sat night (and some of us do), stay off the PC. You are still a brother of the 129th so act like it. Like Rick says...love it or leave it. Brothers, it's up to you if you want to air your dirty laundry in here, but, it's not necessary. No one cares about your past....it's "nobodies business"!! Mark & Dee, please don't be dicouraged....we all love you guys!! Always a brother, Gale

Well, I got a call from Ray Gagner this weekend saying that Fred Skaggs was bad-mouthing Mark Jackson. I don't have a computer at home, so i called Ray to find out what was said and he told me and he was obviously upset at what Fred had written. Now that I have read it, I would like to tell all the Bite and Strikers that I went A W O L for 13 days in 1968 when I was at Mother Rucker. I was kind of a victim of circumstances and paid dearly when i got back to Rucker. KP every other day and when I wasn't on KP I was on some other shit detail that the First Sgt thought needed to be done. I made PFC out of boot camp and of course I was busted when i got back, I received a Summary Court Martial and I was fined right around $200. (lots of money then) I had to make the 13 days up at the end of my time in the army and I never went A W O L again because it wasn't worth it to me. I did end up with an honorable discharge. So I just wanted everyone to know that before someone I thought was a Brother calls me a PUNK or a Lying Bastard or WHITE TRASH. I have nothing but respect for Mark Jackson and his wife Dee. I've known them for about 4 or 5 years now and have been to their house and rode with them to reunions. They are anything but liars and white trash. Larry Jackson was my crewchief for a few months when i was in the 129th and he taught me a lot about crewing a ship and probably saved my life once. I don't ever remember him asking me to take care of his little brother, but by God I will if I have to... My 2 cents for what it's worth. Rob

Time for my two cents......... I have known Mark about three or four years now. I have been in his house numerous times. I have been in the Pop-a-Top several time, and have been with Mark and Dee at Kokomo and Indianapolis several times. AT NO TIME HAS MARK EVER BEEN ANYTHING BUT TOTALILY HONEST. "He" has NEVER claimed to be a nam vet. "WE" not he, have said he is one of us. "He" has always said he places us in the highest regard. "He" always says he looks up to us. LET ME MAKE THIS VERY CLEAR.........I HOLD MARK AND DEE IN THE HIGHEST ESTEAM. MARK IS A MAN AMOUNGST MEN AND THEY ARE TWO OF THE CLASSIEST PEOPLE I KNOW. THEY CAN WALK BY MY SIDE ANY DAY ANY TIME. THEY ARE TWO OF THE BEST, MOST DECIENT PEOPLE YOU COULD WANT AS FRIENDS. As far as belonging with the 129th. I spent a few months with the 129th at my countries asking. Got to do things others can only dream of doing. Had some bad times, but had some of the best of times. All at tax payer expense. Got to blow up more shit in one day than any kid could ever dream of doing in all his war games. Then got to do it all again the next day. Drank bear, raised hell and was left with some of the most incredible memories and bonds of brotherhood imaginable. Not much of a sacrifice compared to what I have been given. What has Mark done to belong to the 129th family????????? For starts he lost his brother Larry to the 129th. THAT ALONE GIVES HIM THE HUMBLE, UNQUESTIONABLE RIGHT TO BE HERE WITH THE 129th FAMILY. HE also had the thought, foresight, dream and inspiration to start this web page that we are using. HE has spent thousand's of hours of HIS time taking care of this web page. HE has spent HIS $$$$$$ to support this web page that WE are using. HE has refused our offers of $$$$ because this is HIS baby and HIS way of honoring Larry, us and the 129th. He has given more and has more RIGHT to be in this 129th family than any other posting here. """you are what we call " white trash".""" I guess if Mark and Dee are what YOU call "white trash" that I and most others who post here are also "white trash", because I put myself by their side. No better, no worst. . If that puts me in the same class as Mark and Dee than I feel very fortunate indeed. What great company. We can't all be "perfect" as you apparently are. If we are so distasteful I have to wonder why anyone of such impeccable stature and character would hang around here with us low life's, unless it is to cause trouble. HEY! I have an idea! Why don't you start your own web page and you can use it to stir all the crap you want, and if any of us want we can log on and join you. Mark and Dee, you are my friends and I love you both. Love and Brotherhood Ron Paye PS. I hope that Marine is not on active duty. I would hate to think of how he must feel. On short final to Combat and gets pounded by one of his own countrymen. Sure would make me want to put my life on the line. Thanks and Welcome Home before he even goes. ((((((((((((NEVER AGAIN WILL VET FORGET VETS))))))))

Fred, I don't know what you "found out" nor do I care, but, this site was created in memory of all the brothers we lost in Viet Nam. with Larry leading the list. as it should be. if Larry had been my real life brother I would have dedicated a site to him too. the nice thing about creating a site like this is that when word gets around about the site it brings us together. at this point it is over 200. I don't care if Mark was a draft dodger or a CMH winner or anything in between. he has done more to bring us back together than anyone I can think of. he has said he was a Marine. end of statement. he has said he loves each one of us because we are the voice of Larry. I don't know if I am part of the voice of Larry or not but I do know I knew Larry quite well and he was just like the rest of us. scared at times, brave at times, drunk at times, sober most of the time and doing his job ALL the time. and when someone needed help with anything ...... ready to help as best he could. Larry could help just by telling a stupid joke to get someone out of the slumps or just sit and listen to your problems and let you cry on his shoulder if you needed someone to listen to your problems. Mark is the same type of person as far as I can tell. and as far as I know Mark has NEVER lied to any of us about anything pertaining to his life or this site. so now you have my 2 cents worth. KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK MARK, LOVE YOU BROTHER. Later, Don

I just got on line to tell Alex that the patches he ordered will be in the mail on Monday, when I read the strange message from Fred. Fred, I don't know what you are talking about. Mark has never presented himself as a Vietnam Vet, a brave hero, a honorably discharged Marine or anything other than the brother of one of our own from the 129th. The time, money and effort to put this web site together has earned his love and respect from many of us. We accept, with grace, the fact that we all may have done things in the past that, if given a chance, would do differently today. To most of us, the fact that someone did not get an honerable discharge, doesn't mean he/she is not welcome here as part of this group. I don't know the sourse of your information, but if it is from the government, then I am sure it does not tell the entire story, and in some cases, could be completely incorrect. Please share what your information says about me, I am curious what it might say. I know that there are about three people out there with my same name that I have never met. Let me know if you need a SSN.

Yes, it's really personal now. If you can get me any bio info on the Veteran I would like to have a moment of silence for him at our next Chapter meeting. Meanwhile, please be careful if you live in the area(like you Ray)and let's pray that this "person" is captured soon, certainly before Veterans Day when so many of you will be at "The Wall." Speaking of "The Wall" I received a copy of the agenda for the 20th Anniversary and a request for people to help read the names of our friends and brothers and on the wall. All of the names will be read, and what an honor it would be to participate in such. Let me know if you want the information. Take care dear friends, the world is struggling right now and every day may appear to be very bleak, and make us sad or angry. We are here for you, reach out if you need us. Now Fred, you say you want to chop up this sniper’s body and feed the fish. What have you got against the fish? Not to mention the folks that might catch the fish. Sure don’t want any part of that scum in my diet. Fact is, there is just a lot of rampant insanity going on these days. Home invasions by drug addicts beating up women and kids looking for a few bucks to feed their habits. Random violence, shootings. It’s sure not what we fought for and a black mark on the memories of those who died. Best we can do is keep an eye out for these scum and turn them in every chance we get. That and have somebody friendly at your six as much as you can. I’m sure not a religious type but sometimes it seems like we really need the Big Guy to come down and kick some serious butt. Hang in, stay close to your families and be careful out there. Cobra Soothsayer 67-68

Flight.... I`m am a loving, caring, sensitive, and peace loving person!!! But this sniper is a "screaming coward" in every sense of the word coward. I usually don`t preach violence, but I can be violent when needed. When they catch their ass, I`ll volunteer to "pull the trigger". Don`t clutter our court system up with this MF, I`m not interested in hearing about "their momma didn`t love them" or " I had a bad childhood". I`ll put a round in their head for each victim. Then chop up his body and feed the fish. Cowards come in many fashions, but this type of coward is the bottom feeder of life. Don`t take this SOB alive!!!!!! Like I said, I have a "nasty streak" in me for shit like this. Gale, I agree with you on the public display. But let us get down right "medieval" with this piece of trash.

Let me begin by saying "Rick" that web site was funny. Now to serious business, a few weeks back there was considerable commo about Awards and Decorations. so I followed this web link for myself. www.nara.gov/regional/stlouis.html. Once there it let me download a form to request info from my Army Records. I was told it would take 8 weeks for them just to process the request, however less than 4 weeks later(yesterday) I recieved a large envelope with just about everything I requested (they also provided a case file and phone number for questions). I had requested copies of my DD214 for each of my reenlistments and copies of all awards and medals I had recieved(you have to be specific and list each one that you may have recieved). The only two things that they couldn't provide were orders for Crew Member Wings, as they were awarded as part of MOS(which means the 201 file says they were authorized but orders were not neccessary) and orders for Vietnamese Cross of Gallantry w/palm device was the same situation as it was awarded based on when you were in country. What really surprised me was a set of orders for RVN Ceasefire Medal issued in 1977. I had never recieved them before I was Medically retired in 1979. One other Item of note were the mistakes on my DD214's, specifically my Vietnam Service. Only 1 out of 4 had the information correct or listed at all. So it boils down to this if you need information about your Army or Vietnam Service follow the web address I listed. Fun things again!!! BIKETOBER FEST Oct 17-20,2002 I'll have mine and the 129th Colors Flying, Hope to see you there.

Ted, Kentucky Nam vets went crazy over that song. With Billy being from Ashland,Kentucky, he`s done a lot for Nam Vets in Kentucky. Of course US Route 23 was just named "Country Music Highway". Everybody is from down home, Patty Loveless(Pikeville), Keith Whitley(Sandy Hook), Ricky Skaggs(Blaine), The Judds(Ashland), Loretta Lynn and Crystal Gayle(Van Lear), Dwight Youkum(Pikeville), Exile(Bowling Green) and the list goes on. I`m not a country/western music fan, just was born and grew up and spent a big part of my life down home. I didn`t make it to the" big city" of Columbus,Ohio until I was 11 yers old. It`s all I grew up with. But when I was young, I`d tune my radio at night to Nashville, John R. the DJ, he played nothing but R&B and Soul and a little Jazz, that`s what I grew loving. Country music today reminds me more of what the Eagles, Poco, Pure Prairie League, was doing 25 or 30 years ago.

"Santa Claus came home last night, drunk on Christmas wine. Fell down hard out in the driveway, hung his bag out on the laundry line. Hello flight, got home from a two week vacation that started at Kokomo. Went as far as Bar Harbor, Maine. Good to see Kal Bergstrom, a guy I actually flew with. Delivered a case of beer to Ron Paye, then proceeded to help myself to a couple, sorry Ron, I owe you a six pack at New Glarus. If you get out New York way, Genesee cream ale is VERY good too. Did you ever get any of that case? Good to meet Gently again and several new ones like Gale Beard who I have another friend in common with. Thanks to the guy that cooked the turkey, delicious. I don't remember names well, so I have missed some I met for the first time. Was especially nice to meet Mark and Dee. Good to be back checking commo on the page. Ted

Flight, got a few e-mails from the " silent minority" brothers. They were a little shocked that I didn`t remember the exact difference between napalm and white phosphorus. I do remember the effects of them both. Saw a few kids and adults up at Kontum and Dak To that showed the scars of them both. I didn`t really think they were VC or NVA soldiers. One of those, "wrong place at the wrong time" episodes. I never would throw another WP gernade after I saw that. Gave me a bad feeling in my stomach. I was decorated well for my combat exploits. But I put a few doobies and alot Heinekens in between myself and Nam. And just forgot about it. Some how I could never find war as a glorious and rewarding experience. That smell of gasoline in the napalm," smell of victory" as they say in the movies, figured I`d never work that stuff at home. So I forgot about it also. Like we use to say," Nam will make a man out of a fool and make a fool out of a man".

I went to "The Wall" in 1985. My senior class(1968 Columbus North HS) in Ohio, lost 16 young men. Everyone of them was Marines. Plus the first kids from the hood. First kid from the neighborhood was Rick Lee Knight,Panel 8E, Row 15 June 6,1966. Rick was one of the "older guys" that would buy beer for us. His younger brother Kent and I were good friends and party buddies. Paul Richard Holley, Panel 55E, Row 17, May 5. I`ll never forget that day, a few of us from the neighborhood were getting ready for graduation. And Paul`s family lived across the street. I remember the OD green car pulling up in front of the house. Two Marines and a guy in civilain clothes. I heard his mother scream and I knew something bad had happen. Paul had grown up in "our back yard" playing wiffle ball and badminton. In the summers he would come over early in the mornings and the whole gang would gather at my house for a game of softball. Paul being one older guys would try to make everything fair. He would pick the teams so that it had the right mixture of older guys and young guys, so it would be fair.

Fred, WP, Willy Pete, white phosferous (sp) is a packed white powder that burns when it comes in contact with Oxygen. the only way to put in out is to take away the O2. Napalm is jellied gasoline. and it has to be ignited by an external source. napalm bombs were ignited by a bursting charge that "set the world on fire"......... Later

I honestly don`t know. I remember Capt. Guilfoyle always had a problem with me carrying WP gernades aboard the ship. He always worried about taking a round and it would hit a WP gernade. I think you are right Gus I remember something about the pilot getting hit also. Like you said. I think he was in 1st platoon. It was after John Thorp was killed in sept. 68 and before Jan 69. Bob I hope you can make Atlanta. Gale that sounds good wish I was there.*************** Going to the wall during Vetreans day haven't been there before. Gen Moore and Joe Gallaway will be speaking there also. *********** Well flight be careful out there

I remember the deal with the WP. I do not remember when. It would have been later part of 68 no later than March of 69. The way I remember the guy was at a ROK position. He was tossing smoke to mark wind or just messing with some laying around the pad. I think I recall it was a dud and he hit it on a rock and it went off. I think some of the other in the crew got hit by a bit of it to. But that was minor. It has been a long time and it is all foggy. I know there is someone else out there who remembers this as I have had a exchange about this before.

Robert & Rick, I've never heard anything about that. I left in May 68, so, it may have been after that. I can check with Gary Villamaino & see if knows anything. Robert, haven't heard from you in a while.Thought that you might have made it to Kokomo....you aren't too far from there are you? Rick, thinking about running over to the Pop A Top Saturday. If I do I'll be sure to have that "burger & egg sandwich" and wash it down with a couple brewskies.Later fellas, Gale

I'm looking for information regarding a member of the 129th or 394 that died in late '68 or early '69 after picking up a WP boobytrapped souvenir?

You are right Gently, there's always more to the story than they first report. I was worried for Rick & me drinking that Miller Lite. If the "hops" are bad , we may have to switch to another brand....how bout it Rick? Gale

Gale, what can I say about those "kids" in Milwaukee. The story breaks my heart, though I don't think we've heard it all yet: seems the man who was beaten to death had a nickname of .380 and the "kids" knew him. This is not to justify anything they did, its just to give you a little more information. If you want me to keep you posted let me know, and I'll do such off the site-damn, some of those "kids" were only 10 years old and because the victim died they may now face the death penalty.! Where were their parents? This was late at night, during the middle of the week! Doesn't being home in bed sound like a normal place to be for school-aged children?! This will certainly shake up our town. On the otherhand, a U.S. Special Forces tropper was killed in the Phillipines today-bomb. This may shake up the world. With arms around you-Gently

The reunions!! what can I say. Meeting so many of you. As I look back. We shared a part of history together, along with a year or more of our lives. In that year are so, we had many experiences some good and some not so good. Together we try to heal our hearts, souls and spirits. All of you are important to me. But, for thoses of you out there, that think this HOME is for just CREWS!! Your wrong!! If you were the company cook, maintence, pol, or even BURN'T SHIT!! " THIS IS YOUR HOME TOO!! We depended on each other. And became a hell of a unit. But, let's not forget our BROTHERS WHOM GAVE IT ALL. I KNOW THIER LOOKING DOWN UPON US AND PROUD TO SEE THE BROTHERHOOD MARCHING ON. TAKE CARE BROTHERS & SISTERS. Always A Brother Alex 65-68
