Snow today gone tomorrow. Taking some time off in march to go home to Barberton,Ohio to see Mom. She is 86 and still hanging in there. She is on oxgyen and has the miles of clear tubing. Last time I went home in march caught a major snow storm. decided to head south when I seen a salt truck with a plow cleaning the right lane only. Followed the trucks down 76 to 71 south. Tim Cole and Ray Foley - your Bite & Strike books are in th email. The CD will come separately. I apologize for the long delay but we have out here in California (from Colorado) since August and had to make arrangements for one of my kids to go to the house and dig out the books and get them to the post office. Looks like we'll be out here in CA until at least the end of May. Ken, be sure you check with the Walmart Manager to make sure overnight parking is okay. Some Walmarts don't allow it. Hope everyone is well. Bill

Hey Ken, you can park your rig as long as you need at my place. I live 2 miles off I-16, easy access to the highway. We are fixing to get our couple days of winter down here, low teens for a couple nites. Oh, Vickey also has 40 acres so I'm sure we can get a good campfire going and a place to camp, you're welcome brother. Stickman outta here

Gale, did hear back from him this morning and he is working on his farm but said I can meet him there. It would be cheaper than staying at a campground down here. Paying almost $30 for a night to park is nuts. I can stay in Rest Areas but they seem to be less overnight friendly. I got by with it so far but some are saying they have a two hour limit or no overnight parking. Fred, that doesn't sound far to tired truck drivers as I would rather have you guys sound asleep than trying to drive, LOL.

Hi all, to add about Kokomo, I already have the form for the camp sites and plan on trying to make sure we get all the same ones again this year as last. We had more than enough room where we were for extra tents, anyone with a camper let me know soon. Stickman I am enjoying the low country and maybe going to Macon, GA next if I get a hold of Larry Lackey. Flt, be safe out there.

If you are Military Retired you can see any Dr you want and have your order for meds filled at the base or any pharmacy that takes Co-Pay thru Tricare.I pay $9 for the 1st order and $3 for each refill. My drug store is only about 100 Yards from my home.Or I could go thru Medicare for my meds.Va does not care where us "Dead Senior Veterans" over 70 yrs old get our meds.

Gale, the va has,(had) been in somewhat of a financial bind. Pharmacy is by far the largest cost. They get reimbursement for SC meds & co payments. Here, there was a big rush on people seeing Dr's downtown & the getting meds filled at Va. So they have kind of put a halt to it. See the patient representative at Indy or wherever you are seen. May be different there>>>>>>>>>>>>>respects to all >>>> Smitty

Gale, before I got a 100% I had the same problems. Mainly had everything filled at the VA that was Service Connected and didn't have to pay a deductable. Than when the doctor I had in Lafayette wanted me to take stuff that was expensive I managed to get the VA Primary Care to write it for me without any problem. The only thing I had a problem with was the Morphine and I am trying to get off of that myself because it is way to hard to get from the VA. PS: I am going to start entering where I am at the moment. So if anyone sees that I am close by, write a note.

Smitty or flight, Is there a way to get prescriptions from my family Doctor filled through the VA? It started out that way, but, my newest VA Dr (intern) insists on being my primary care and wants to control everything. I want to stay with the family Dr and do my two visits that is recommended by the VA, but, she wants to take over everytime. I'm kinda stumped....anyone have an answer?

Guys And Gals, I understand that there are a number of Veterans that are looking to live with other Veterans.Otherwise they will be killed. What a shame! Our K-9 Buddys need to find good homes or be put to sleep. They are good guard dogs and baby sitters and also good friends. We all know someone that has a large back yard or lives in the Burbs. They did their part side by side with us.What say we give some payback.Bow Wow wow.

Gary,Your case really is not so special. We had a crewchef who developed a bad case of the runs while on the way from Na trang to Lane field. He took off his pants and leaned out over the skids and let go.I had a patient on a litter who watched what was going on and told me what was takeing place on the side.It was raining like hell and the Huey was bouncing all over the sky.By the time we landed all the evedence was gone. The crewchef only had a smile on his face.

Gary the most vivid memories are of Lane. Maybe it was because it was locked in time but parts like the hooch, shower and flight line really stayed. At least after being on here it is not just dreaming about green balls coming up at us or dead bodies. This site has brought back much better things to dream and think about. Of coarse pictures help like seeing a picture of 351 after being shot down, it was like seeing that old bucket of bolts all over again. Now I just hope Mr Hendrix gets the tape put together the way he wants it after not hearing it sense Vietnam. I am hoping that will be what I bring to Kokomo this year as I am running out of Huey parts to bring.

Gee Gary, you rang my bell with that last message.. I have looked all over the net for Steve Grace, with no luck. He was in the hootch next to me and I flew peter pilot with him quite a bit and with Doug Marr too, B4 he went to the guns.... 2nd platoon, early '68. I also remember the ship.. I'm glad the mind still gets a ringing now and then, I don't remember the incident you mentioned but there are lots of things that have slipped my mind lately..Ha.. Well gang, I arrived in Mesa, AZ yesterday and boy it sure was worth the trip!!.. 71 degrees today and sunny all day!!. Great weather for a nice walk!!. Still haven't heard anything from Rick England or anyone else in the Phoenix area. Anyone around here want an eyeball, dinner or whatever, just say so.. Take care and C U L8r.. Kal...>>>

Many years ago,I took a summer job. It was ok,as summer jobs go.It did work out to last a year tho. That summer long year, I spent traveling from one place to another. Saw alot of different things, met alot of folks, some not as friendly as they could have been, others were, and still other would be,if you paid them 20 bucks or so.Seemed like alot of money, when they only wanted to spend the night( all nighter,GI). Heck, most of that was spent sleeping anyway. This offer was made by men a well as women, what a friendly people. Most everthing could be had for a twenty..or lots of a everthing.Heck, beer was 15 cents and mixed drinks was a quarter.A carton of cigs was under 3 dollars..and some folks ,friendly of course, wanted to trade a kilo..Never understood what a kilo was, heck, back home we had silo, but not that other stuff, for our smokes. I was lucky in so man ways, during this summer job. Heck,I even ate some bananas, little fellers the were, with tiny black seed in them. Best ones I ever ate. Now ,they didnt (the bosses)want us to go out much at night, but heck, who wanted to,twernt anywhere to go..No sockhops or nothing. Didnt even see one hot rod 57chevy the whole time I worked that summer..tho I did see a 61 corvette,in a place called Siagon. The local boys there,a couple of them anyway, did ride Harleys. Speaking of riding, many spoke of cowboys and to beware of them. I never saw one single horse the entire trip. I did see lots of fellows with cowboy hats on, but I was told "that aint the same". Will finish later..gotta go play with the Babys Momma.

Mark & all Happy New Year. Mark I think this site has been a blessing for many of us. To remember that just a couple years ago I had forgotten Lane and all the great guys who were there. Today not only have I talked to many of the ones there with me but also you guys from before. So for me it had changed from that dark place I was trying to forget to something I look forward to now in not being able to wait to see you guys again. So 2009 is looking a lot better.

Bruno........as I read what you posted about what your first New Years at Lane was like, I was living it in my mind. Awesome words brother. But what is the most beautiful thing of your post is your last line, "regardless of where I'm at -In my mind I'm at Lane" is so , so much what this web site is all about. That you , and all of you, who gather, recall, relate, and remember. I sure hope that this place has been a good thing for all of you. I'm over whelmed right now and in tears because it means so much to me that all of you come here to say things. I love you all...........do take care........and God Bless.........thanks to all for making this home we have here a GREAT PLACE..........always a brother

HAPPY NEW YEARS!!!!!!! :-))))) I always remember New Years eve Dec 31st,1971 I had just arrived @ Lane. Since I didn't know anyone yet I went to bed early. When the clock struck midnite just about evey m-16 opened up. I jumped about a foot from my bunk. What a nite. The next day I saw awhole bunch of "bad" hung over faces. So every new years eve regardless of where I'm at -In my mind I'm at Lane.HAPPY NEW YEAR EVERYONE.
